BRITISH CHEERLEADING ASSOCIATION
New rules, new possibilities from Spring 2008!
The BCA is pleased to announce the development of a working relationship with both the International All-Star Federation (IASF) and the International Cheer Union (ICU). The IASF is the international branch of the USASF: cheer associations and cheer event companies working together to standardise coaches education and cheerleading competitions worldwide. The ICU will have one representative from each ‘not for profit’ national federation, based on the Olympic model. Both organisations represent a growing concern to encourage cheerleading participation through making the sport more legitimate and safe.
2008 is going to be a phenomenal year and BCA is going to lead the way by using its vast experience in fulfilling its Duty of Care. The BCA is unparalleled in producing Child Protection Policies, Health and Safety processes and Risk Assessment recommendations for cheer teams in the UK. Already American organisations (such as the NCSSE) have adopted BCA models in some of these areas. The BCA wishes to work together with the international community to ensure that Britain’s interests are represented and respected, and to ensure that the safety of British cheerleaders is never compromised.
So how does this affect you, British cheerleading coaches?
