Etiquette
18 BASIC RULES THAT APPLY TO ANY
SPORT
1) The supporters have come to watch the game, not
cheerleading.
2) With play in progress show spirit but no performance
material. One or two word chants focus support without distraction.
3) Pre-Game, Half-Time, changes of Quarters, and Time-Outs
are when you do your performance material to fill in the natural gaps in
game momentum and to entertain the crowd.
4) Know the rules and Respect the Officials.
5) Be positive and sportsmanlike. Boost your team but do
not run down or taunt your opponents.
6) Act as Role Models for crowd behaviour. Discourage negative
reactions.
7) Your performance starts the moment the public sees you
enter the arena.
8) The game ain't over 'till the supporters leave.
9) The Players get breaks, Time-Outs and Half-Time. You
don't. Make effective use of the times when you should not be cheering.
10) When you are not cheering keep a unified relaxed but
alert posture, paying attention to the game.
11) No jewellery, excessive make-up, chewing gum, slouching,
or eating whilst in public view.
12) Gatorade or Isostar should be available to replenish
lost fluids etc.
13) Follow the Safety Guidelines if you are stunting or
building pyramids.
14) Have your game plan system worked out before the season
starts, and clear it with Head Coach.
15) Show tact and sportsmanship if your team is ahead.
16) Give extra energy and encouragement if your team is
behind.
17) Remember you are Team's most visible supporters. Act
accordingly.
18) Have
Fun!
